Brad Pitt talks about his ever-evolving worlds of fatherhood, the enviably gorgeous Angelina Jolie, weed and his chance at an Oscar.

The Internet has been abuzz this week with Brad Pitt’s past resolve not to¬†marry his love of seven years Angelina Jolie until all gay couples are able to do the same. Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter released its cover story on the actor, just in time to coincide with his multiple Oscar nominations, which were announced Tuesday. Aside from looking forward to golden boy Pitt walking away with the golden boy next month, fans can now celebrate the fact that the star is finding it harder to avoid the wedding aisle these days.

“We’d actually like to and it seems to mean more and more to our kids,” Pitt says. “We made this declaration some time ago that we weren’t going to do it till everyone can. But I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out.” What’s changed? The father of six further explains, “It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.”

When pressed about a proposal, Pitt declares, “I’m not going to go any further … But to be in love with someone and be raising a family with someone and want to make that commitment and not be able to is ludicrous, just ludicrous.”

A more open than usual Pitt goes on to talk politics (staunch Obama supporter), religion (agnostic/atheist, much to the chagrin of his Southern Baptist parents) and … weed? It’s true. After suffering from depression, which he credits to an inability to cope with his growing celebrity status in the ’90s, he admits to having used marijuana, “numbing myself to sleep.” But a trip to Casablanca, Morocco, and a front row seat to poverty persuaded him to quit the habit. “I just quit,” he explains. “I stopped grass then–I mean, pretty much–and decided to get off the couch.”

He also opens up about his friendship with notorious prankster and frequent costar George Clooney. Both impossibly good looking men, who sometimes feign a faux rivalry on the red carpet, have been nominated for Best Actor Oscars this year–Clooney for “The Descendants” and Pitt for “Moneyball.” Jolie’s perhaps soon-to-be husband is also up for a possible two producer nominations for his work on Best Picture nominees “Moneyball” and “Tree of Life” (his producer credit has yet to be determined by the Academy).

But the man who would be more father than Hollywood royalty in real life simply says, “It’s a great honor.”
