Color

Forget the neutral shades, pastels, and earth tones, color is having a major moment this spring. From cheerful yellows, pinks, and jewel tones to the freshness of Greenery, Pantone’s color of the year, many brides are choosing to incorporate bright and vibrant hues into their wedding colors. We love the juxtaposition of colors like coral and plum mixed with softer shades of green and white to give your wedding a fresh, unique look. You can also add pops of color to bouquets, table décor, and even your cake!

Natural Inspiration

Take a cue from Mother Nature this spring and look for natural elements to incorporate into your wedding’s theme. Stone place cards, potted plants, and even walls of greenery are making an appearance, along with wood and garden-inspired florals. This interest in natural elements also extends to an overall eco-friendly trend. This year’s weddings have seen an uptick in farm-to-table menus, artisan spirits and cocktails, locally sourced flowers, and invites that work to reduce the overall carbon footprint.

Hanging Décor

Brides in 2017 are looking for visual impact, and a great way to incorporate this trend is through striking hanging décor. According to Audrey Isaac of 100 Candles, “When it comes to wedding decor, couples are looking up for inspiration. They are taking advantage of the vertical visual space above guest tables and highlighting it with a number of options. Expect to see tall tapers paired with luxurious candelabras, low-hanging string lights or Edison bulbs and chandeliers in a variety of shapes and sizes in 2017.” Gorgeous greenery, candelabras, and hanging bulbs will make an appearance, as well as lanterns and more traditional tea lights.

Creative Ice Breakers

Couples this spring are looking for new ways to engage their guests throughout the wedding, and what better way capture their attention than through a creative ice breaker? Brides and grooms are adding fun details like crosswords and mad libs to their wedding programs, and other couples offer guests the opportunity to show their silly sides with custom photo booths and party portraits. Lauren Kay, deputy editor at the Knot, says, “If you’re hosting an outdoor wedding, treat your guests to some lawn games during cocktail hour. This playful trend is the perfect way to get your friends and family mingling.” This emphasis also extends to entertainment, with some couples hiring out-of-the-box entertainment like aerialists, fire-breathers, or contortionists.

Non-traditional Wedding Dresses

From off-the-shoulder numbers, to striking details like bows, capelets, and plunging necklines, the dresses of spring are anything but boring. Floral embroidery and the 3-D florals from 2016 are still popular options, but many of these dresses feature non-traditional colors like blush pink, lavender, sage green, and even gold. If you’re not quite ready to commit to a bright pink ballgown, try incorporating a touch of color with an ombre gown.

Whatever style you choose, there are plenty of ways to customize your spring wedding and make it your own. If you need extra ideas or inspiration, read about the latest trends in Martha Stewart Weddings, Bridal Guide, or Brides for tips, DIYs, and more!
