Celebrity singer Ricky Martin talks fatherhood, relationships and coming out in the April issue of Vanity Fair’s Spanish edition.
And the good looks go on to bless another generation of admirers. Ricky Martin is sharing the April cover of Spain’s Vanity Fair magazine with a couple of very handsome fellows–his twin sons, Matteo and Valentino, 3.
The Latin superstar is opening up about his sexuality, becoming a parent and raising his sons with partner of four years, Carlos Gonzalez Abella, who he says he does plan on marrying someday.
Martin also says he’s grateful to be raising his boys with Abella and regularly recognizes the woman who gave birth to the boys as “so angelic, so transparent,” and far more than merely a “surrogate”—a term he says is used by fundamentalists. “I would give my life to the woman who helped me bring my children into the world,” he explains.
The singer’s own life has taken a dramatic turn since he came out to the world in 2010 after multiple relationships with both men and women. He tells the magazine, “I have slept with women and I fell in love with them and I felt wonderful things. There was a lot of love [and] passion.”
The “Shake Your Bon-Bon” singer insists, “I don’t regret anything, any of the relationships I’ve lived, they taught me a lot both men and women equally.”
These days, Martin learns the most from Matteo and Valentino. Like most parents, he says, “Every decision I make and everything I do is based on their needs. I don’t want to sound cliché, but they teach me new things every day.”
