Nothing But Love: Every Day With Rachael Ray Plugs Annual Gourmet Burger Bashes

everydayrachray_feb2011.jpgEvery Day With Rachael Ray magazine keeps its covers pretty seasonal–turkey at Thanksgiving, trees at Christmas–so I expected hearts or something appropriately romantic for February. At least the background was red and “love” was a prominent part of one of the main teasers.

But if the burgers seem out of place on what would typically be a Valentine’s Day inspired cover–last year’s featured Rach in a red trench coat surrounded by red, white and pink balloons–there’s a good reason she’s promoting patties this year.

Since 2007, the celebrity chef has elevated the burger to the centerpiece of a heated gourmet competition at food and wine festivals in both New York City and South Beach. The annual burger bash in the Big Apple takes place in the fall as part of the New York Wine and Food Festival.

The 2010 event–including winning recipes, chef and celeb burger preferences–is covered in the February 2011 issue. Not to mention, it’s a nice plug for the South Beach Wine and Food Festival–and another Rach-hosted burger bash–coming up on Feb. 24.

Tickets are pricey: $200 for general admission, and the $300-per-ticket VIP reception is already sold out. But don’t worry. Odds are we’ll get a taste from the burger masters featured in an upcoming issue of the magazine.

The February issue included the top three NYC bash burgers and the restaurants who provided them, along with recipes perfect for your own (in case you missed it) for Maple Stout Floats, Frickles (fried pickles) with Jalapeno Ranch Dressing, Asiago Tater Tots and Santa Fe Burgers, the People’s Choice Winner from Bobby Flay.
