National Geographic Named Magazine of the Year

NatGEO2_edit.jpgLast night in New York the American Society of Magazine Editors in association with the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, honored the best magazines with the National Magazine Awards, known as the Ellies.

This year’s top winner for the Magazine of the Year award is National Geographic. This is only the second year the Magazine of the Year category, which honors titles that are superior in both print and digital, has been given; last year Glamour magazine won.

National Geographic also won a second award, in the single-topic issue category for its April 2010 issue devoted to “Water: Our Thirsty World.” Other top winners include Los Angeles, New York and New York Times Magazine with two wins apiece.

Other magazine winners included Women’s Health, Garden & Gun, Men’s Journal, Poetry magazine, GQ, ESPN The Magazine and Scientific American. F

In March ASME also presented The Digital National Magazine Awards, with wins for Epicurious, Esquire and Slate, among others.

Congrats to all the winners!
