Magazine of the Year Finalists Announced

Wired.jpgSid Holt, Chief Executive of the America Society of Magazine Editors, announced the 2011 Magazine of the Year finalists earlier this week.
The finalists are:

The Atlantic
Backpacker
Foreign Policy
National Geographic       
Wired

The Magazine of the Year
category, honors publications that have achieved excellence both in
print and on digital platforms.

Holt also announced that the presentation of the 2011 National Magazine
Awards will be hosted by Katie Couric and writer Tom Wolfe will be honored with the Creative Excellence Award, a special
award for his legendary work as a magazine journalist.

    I have always loved National Geographic. Having been an educator for 30 years, I’ve seen its value in teaching students about things and places they might never have known.

    Thanks for your comment. I agree! My grandfather got me a subscription to National Geographic (my first subscription) when I was in elementary school. I still remember reading about different countries and animals–it made a big impression on me.
