Magazine Industry News Round-Up

OK.jpgHere’s our weekly look at magazine industry news you may have missed:

  • There’s a rumor circulating an announcement that Tina Brown’s The Daily Beast will merge with the struggling Newsweek magazine.

  • Celebrity magazine OK! Weekly has been struggling during its five-year
existence in the U.S. with management changes, finances and circulation.
Now the magazine’s newest editor, Richard Spencer, is redirecting the
British magazine’s strategy from negotiating celebrity exclusives in
exchange for star-friendly treatment to expanding coverage with
celebrity news and everyday people but will continue to maintain a gossipy approach.

  • The Knot Inc., the media company that owns TheKnot.com, announced the launch of The Knot Weddings Magazine for the iPad, now available on the Apple App store. The Knot Weddings Magazine for the iPad is the first-of-its-kind and features enhanced scrapbooking and social networking capabilities, and hundreds of photos and videos that provide brides with a close-up, behind-the-scenes look at all the wedding details to help them plan their wedding.
