Lindsay Lohan Finally Taking Responsibility?

lindsay_vf_edit2.jpg“These were my college years … but they were in the public eye. I was irresponsible. I was experimenting. I was doing certain things that people do 10 times more when they’re in college.”

That would be some college experience. At least Lohan is admitting there’s a problem–the first step, right?

According to USA Today and the New York Post, Lohan sat down for a new cover story with Vanity Fair magazine. People magazine is reporting the interview, which took place just before Lohan entered jail last month, has the actress crediting her father, youthful naivete, and her own bad choices for role models for taking her down the path to drug use, jail, and now rehab.

Says the actress in the interview, “I was irresponsible. And I’m not making excuses.”

As
for her own partying ways, the actress says they are things of her
past. “I see where that’s gotten me now, and I don’t like it.”
So
where and when did it all go wrong? Lohan says as a child, she “didn’t
have any structure. In the beginning, I had structure, and then I lost
all the structure in my life. I think a lot of it was because I was
doing my first slew of movies, it was very go-go, and I had a lot of
responsibility, and I think just the second I didn’t have [structure]
anymore–I was 18, 19–with a ton of money.”
People magazine
reports in the interview with Vanity Fair Lohan also piles the blame up on her
father’s doorstep. “I think if anyone should be looked at medically it’s
him.”
The most promising part of
the interview perhaps is when Lohan says she’s looking forward to a
future in acting. “I want my career back. I know that I’m a damn good
actress, and it’s been my passion since I was a child, and I know that
when I care about something, I put 100 percent and more into it. … I
want the respect that I had when I was doing great movies. And if that
takes not going out to a club at night, then so be it. It’s not fun
anyway. I don’t care. It’s the same thing every time.”
Here’s hoping somebody’s actually graduated.
