Last month, days after TLC put the axe to reality series “Kate Plus 8,” tattoo artist Kat Von D’s “LA Ink” was dealt the same blow. The network announced in a statement, “TLC has decided that the current season of ‘LA Ink’ will be its last. The network is proud of what the series has accomplished in its four seasons, following Kat Von D’s journey as an artist from Miami to Los Angeles.”
But Lady Von D didn’t taking the news lying down. She struck back at TLC, telling People, “In an effort to capitalize on my recent breakup [with Jesse James], the network has decided to focus their energy on re-editing events that didn’t happen while filming.” And maybe the reality of Von D’s personal life wasn’t exactly jiving with her reality TV series. After all, season four of “LA Ink” premiered just days after Von D and James announced their split; meanwhile, the two still appeared very much in love on TV.
But not to worry for Kat Von D. Just as TLC has opted to part ways with her, Jesse James has decided he can’t live without her. After both member of the loved-up twosome posted photos of themselves in a warm embrace on their Twitter accounts, James confirmed to People, “Sometimes you are only given one chance in life. It was up to me to open my eyes and see it. That girl is my chance. I will never stop fighting and trying to hold on to her.”
And now that distance may no longer be an issue–James lives and works in Austin, Texas, while Von D and her show have been based in Los Angeles]–James’ quest to hold on to her might be that much easier. A good first sign is the fact that their canceled wedding is back on.
So what do you think of the shake-ups at TLC? What should Von D do next? Should she and her on-again fiancee do a show together?
