Moll Anderson’s Orange Crush

The fashion trends for this spring have presented a myriad of options from shorts, suits, ladylike dresses to pencil skirts, futuristic prints, all the way to pastel shades and separates. If you find it difficult to navigate the waters of the newest and hottest trends, let me suggest my orange crush: One of the most wearable trends for the upcoming season is Pantone Institute’s color of the year, Tangerine Tango! The prediction for the year was spot-on as this enticing citrus color was splashed all over designer runways. I’m loving the depth of the tangerine, but if it’s maybe too bright for you, don’t worry — there are plenty of orange hues to choose from.

Orange is also a great color to wear because of the high energy associated with this color; orange combines the passionate energy of red with the friendliness of yellow. It typically represents happiness, creativity, attraction and success. It literally turns up the heat to the human eye and gives off the sensation of heat … this season’s haute color really is HOT! Try this high-octane orange and you’ll be sure to catch attention with this new seductive color.

If you are unsure of incorporating the orange as an entire look, try out a fun bracelet or P.O.C. (pop of color) handbag! Style yourself so that you feel glam and fabulous! Keeping up with the current fashion trends is a simple way to feel socially immersed and looking great for this spring! Don the orange and you’ll be sporting the best of spring 2012’s trends.

Moll Anderson on Being the Life of the Party

fresh olivesIt’s nearly time to spring into spring and I think it’s time to kick the spring fever with a party! I’m going to introduce you to a couple of simple tips so that you are ready to be the ultimate seductive and party-ready hostess at any time.

Always remember that life is not about perfection, so why should entertaining be? Get those old “rules of entertaining” out of your head! Kick back, relax and be the life of the party! I want to encourage you to give up any fear of not being perfect by embracing a new way of thinking. I understand the anxiety that sometimes comes with throwing a party because I have experienced it, but entertaining doesn’t have to be difficult or stressful. You don’t have to raise the grain-fed chicken you’re serving for dinner, wring its neck and pluck it in order to say you made the dinner from scratch. You don’t even need to roast that chicken yourself! Instead pick one up at the store already cooked. What’s important is to spend that time relaxing and rejuvenating yourself while also spending time with your friends or family.

But now, here’s a test to see if you could be party ready at any time: Pretend you just got a call from six of your friends and they’re 30 minutes away. Can you throw a soiree based on what you have in your home right now? If not, I’ve devised a list of items you need in your kitchen at all times. That way, the next time a friend calls, you’ll be ready to socialize and have a fabulous evening of entertaining!

Party Staples
In order to help you be party ready at a moment’s notice, keep these must-have staples in stock.

Assorted olives—They have a long shelf life yet seem exotic and decadent. You’ll find great varieties, and olives are wonderful stuffed with such delicacies as jalapeños and blue cheese.
Red and green seedless grapes—Not only are they tasty, but they’re the perfect garnish for cheese platters and salty hors d’oeuvres. They add color to your tray as well!
Frozen finger foods—Discount stores or groceries often have amazing frozen appetizers. Get a box of assorted munchies and store them for emergencies. Just thaw, garnish and look gourmet!
Various cheeses—Cheeses are such a treat and a very chic party-ready purchase. A cheese platter makes you and your guests feel special.
Cocktail napkins—Cute or cool cocktail napkins can save the day. If you don’t have them, don’t distress. But if you have them on hand, they bring a touch of class to any last-minute gathering.
Lemons and limes—Zest with the best! Lemons and limes are so versatile. Since they work well for every thing from a cocktail garnish to a simple centerpiece, these citrus savers are a party-ready must.

Moll Anderson’s Advice for Making Your Valentine’s Day Sensual

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow but it’s not too late to set the stage for romance. I’m thinking you should play up the sensual vibe in your home.

Here are a few keys to creating a seductive space: scent, music, fashion and flowers. And yes, they are all affordable elements that anyone can incorporate in their day-to-day living.

Let’s start with candles: stick to vanilla–it’s the number one scent men are drawn to. Now, dim the lights, turn on that seductive playlist, add some flowers, pour the bubbly and don’t forget to dress for the event. You’re on your way to a sexy evening and if you keep it up, a glamorous and seductive life.

A sensual home makes you feel seductive so go ahead and fill it with things that appeal to your senses. That’s the trick for this special day! What you see, feel, hear, touch and even taste will manifest itself into who you are, making your Valentine’s Day a wonderful, sensual experience.

Moll Anderson Releases Newest Book The Seductive Home™

I believe homes, like people, can be deeply individual yet equally creative and the process begins with understanding your personality and nurturing your personal style. To design your home, you need to know who you are, how you dress, how you live and most importantly, how you dream of living. In my newest book The Seductive Home™ you can see my dreams!

I chose the book’s title to get people’s attention and to show them how they can seduce their families back home. I want children to learn what a home is supposed to be. Home is the most important place, regardless of where you are with your style. You want your home to be the place where you want to come back to. Seduction evokes emotion – it’s exhilarating, joyful, surprising and most importantly, it’s sensual. You’re drawn in and you want to experience more. This is what defines The Seductive Home™. It’s always found in all the decadent details: the finishes, the textures on the walls and how the paint color catches the light in such a way that you yourself are lit beautifully. It makes you feel flirty and fabulous.

When writing The Seductive Home™ I always remembered that sensuality is a state of mind; the more in touch you are with it, the more full of life and happier you are. The interiors affect your sensory and that’s what makes a home homier. With an abundance of glorious images, my new book teaches you how to bring elegance, sophistication and, yes, even an indulgent sense of decadence to a home.

Moll Anderson’s Tips for Using the Power of Red

A red rose means passionate love.

The second January is over I immediately start thinking and looking forward to Valentine’s Day. What girl doesn’t? That’s how powerful the holiday is! So, let’s get started thinking about RED! In last week’s blog, “Take a Color Clue,” I explained the meanings of different colors in your life. This week let’s focus on the power of red.

First, you should add a little living color into a space that may seem a bit drab. You can simply turn the heat up in your home with gorgeous crimson flowers. Don’t underestimate the power of the flower; it captures the senses in a most unique way. Flowers bring a pop of color to a space and can play a tremendous part in capturing one’s heart. When creating the ultimate stage for romance I’ve always said, “Dim the lights, turn on the music and fill the room with gorgeous flowers!” Now that’s a seductive home.

I’m here to tell you the color red is an emotionally intense hue that even has physical effects. It can enhance the metabolism, increase respiration and even raise blood pressure. So grab those ruby roses while at the grocery, think a red-hot nightie, fabulous red lips, luxurious crimson sheets, or you can even roll away the drab with a fabulous shade of red paint. If you add red to your space, you’ll immediately bring spice to you life. So, this Valentine’s day, turn your home into a scarlet fever seductive home.

How will you use the power of red this Valentine’s Day?

Joy of color

It’s time to make a simple change and bring color into your space! Color has energy and amazing impact on the human psyche. So, here are just a few suggestions for colors that will really pack a punch!

Color is a personal choice, so go with whichever hue you are drawn to. Live dangerously and dare to pick a color no one would ever believe you’d choose, or at least one that will affect you and your home in a new and interesting way.

Red: Typically associated with passion, desire and love; however, energy, power, and determination are also closely connected to this color.

Orange: This energetic color not only stimulates activity and encourages socialization, but also has been shown to have only positive effects on one’s emotional state.

Yellow: It is the strongest color psychologically and can quickly brighten things up as it relieves depression, sparks creativity and even improves memory.

Lime: Adding a twist of lime to any drink is quite the refresher—so that added bit of zest might be just what your room needs. Due to the close association with fruits, citrus hues—like lime—are linked to wealth and vitality.

Blue: A calming and cooling color, it counteracts hypertension and is good for the sinuses.

Think pink to get ready for Valentine's Day.

Violet: A cleansing and healing hue that can strengthen and awaken your spirit, violet is also great for headaches and migraines.

I’m not saying you have to go all out and paint your entire house orange. I think painting one wall or incorporating a bright new piece of furniture, or even adding a touch of color to your master bed linens will do the trick to bringing some colorful energy to your home.

What color will you bring into your home to add a punch and pick up the energy?
