Moll Anderson’s Tips on Displaying Accessories and Color Coordinating Your Closet

Beautifully displaying your accessories helps you see your options when pulling together an outfit.

Sunday September 23rd had the magic of the Emmy Awards in the air and I got to experience a complete girl’s day happening in my house, especially happening in my closet! That’s right, my best gal pal Sophie and I got to hang out all day together.

We spent several hours unpacking, closet reorganizing and catching up on some guilty pleasure television like any and all Bravo and Style Network shows. The anticipation of the 5:30 hour was exciting! I channel-surfed between E! red carpet appearances and watching my buddy, Fashion Guru Lawrence Zarian, doing his fab thing on the red carpet.

My Emmy HOT picks were Padma Lakshmi in the amazing hot orange Monique Lhuillier gown and Nicole Kidman in Antonio Berardi and of course we always love seeing Keith Urban looking so fine. My WORST dressed pick was Lena Dunham–her Prada dress was completely disappointing! The cut of the dress was hard for any female to pull off! Sorry, Lena!

My accomplishments in the closet proved to be quite satisfying! Check it out:

Color coordinating and organizing your closet like a boutique takes the stress out of getting dressed.

Creating vignettes of your accessories in color prove to make life so much easier when creating last minute outfits. It also allows you to enjoy them when you are not wearing them. Don’t forget to consider C.P.U.: Cost Per Use. Creating a rainbow of color keeps your sweaters neatly folded and easy to find, and also has a pleasant effect on the aesthetics of your closet!

All in all, it was a fabulous day! Send me photos of your “Sunday Closet Cases” to share with me your dilemmas and your great ideas.

Don’t forget to Tune in on XM Talk 168, 2 p.m. PST, 5 p.m. EST to The Moll Anderson Show this Saturday! My guests are Bravo’s Miss Advised, Julia Allison and Katie Rosen of FabFitFun.com

Moll Anderson Seductive Holiday Table for Two

Moll Anderson Wraps Up Promotions for Her Newest Book on Romantic Design

What a jammed-packed and successful week! My new book, Seductive Tables For Two: Tablescapes, Picnics, & Recipes That Inspire Romance, is making its way across the ocean from Italy where it’s been printed to arrive just in time for the holidays.

We emptied my living room to get ready to shoot TV commercials as part of my media campaign. My garage was packed full of tables with flowers, dishes and all the makings to create holiday tables for two. We shot with RIVR media and I’m so excited to see the results.

You won’t want to miss my tips for creating your own seductive holiday table for two. Look for my commercials starting November 15th on HGTV, Food Network and the Cooking Channel.

After the shooting on Tuesday, I raced off to Los Angeles to tape my radio shows and had a fabulous time with some really great guests. If you missed Saturday’s show, listen to my podcast at MollAnderson.com.

Tara Hitchcock, my go-to Hollywood connection, stopped by to talk Emmys just in time for Sunday’s Red Carpet. Then Linda Mendoza who is a fabulous female director in Hollywood talked about what it’s like to be living her dream.

Linda has directed some of your favorite television shows such as Ugly Betty, 30 Rock, The Gilmore Girls and many more, including those fab Sophia Vergara commercials for Pepsi! Tune in this coming Saturday, September 29th, on XM Talk 168, 2 p.m. PST, 5 p.m. EST to the Moll Anderson Show and hear who drops in for a visit with me.

Moll Anderson’s Day-By-Day Diary of Fashion Week Fun

Last week I was busy preparing for Fashion’s Night Out and the week of fashion, friends, and fun. What girl doesn’t love dressing up and getting a sneak peak at the latest fashions?

Moll with Kim McCoy at Dior celebrating Fashion's Night Out to kick off Fashion Week

Thursday, Sept. 6

Fashion Week kicked off on Thursday at Fashion’s Night Out. My good friend and producer, Kim McCoy and I attended the benefit event at Dior.

The New York City AIDS Fund in the New York Community Trust was the charity benefiting from this spectacular evening. We had a great time at the Dior event and were photographed together enjoying the night’s festivities.

I stopped by the Donna Karan store in Manhattan after the Dior event to say hello. Donna had a signing of her new book honoring her late husband, Stephan Weiss: Connecting the Dots, Portrait of a Man, and I couldn’t resist picking up several copies for gifts. (Donna looks fabulous by the way.)

Sunday, Sept. 9

On Sunday, I had a front row seat for Chado Ralph Rucci, and it was amazing. I’m excited to share that color is everywhere— fuchsia, hot yellow and every color to make your heart leap with joy when spring 2013 hits. Even the models had a touch of raspberry on their eyelids and it was super-sexy. Loved that shiny back vinyl and I never get tired of it. Chatted it up with Bravo TV’s new starlet, Julia Allison, on “Miss Advised.” Super sweet and gorgeous in person! Saw everyone from Martha Stewart to Paula Abdul!

Monday, Sept. 10

On Day 6 of Fashion Week, I am on my way to the Donna Karan show held in Soho instead of Lincoln Center. I love that she bucks the system and goes for her own venue. The line is wonderful. Sexy and practical at the same time and it was infused with subtle colors. Seafoam green and a pale, pale Italian orange was a chic surprise. Oh yes, I marked several I’ll be rocking this next spring!

Monday night was very special because I got to celebrate my dear girlfriend Lee Woodruff who had a book party for her new and really incredible novel Those We Love Most. The weather was fabulous, and we visited and connected with truly incredible people who all came to support her latest book.

Please go buy several copies! It’s a page-turner you’ll want to curl up with on your sofa along with a glass of wine.

Simply seductive shoes on display at Saks

Tuesday, Sept. 11

Party in the Shoe Salon at Saks Fifth Avenue on Tuesday so I got in the fashion mood and tweeted pics of my favorite seductive shoes!

Wednesday, Sept. 12

Wednesday was a fabulous day at the Michael Kors show. Michael’s show is always the hottest ticket during fashion week, and I think this was one of my favorite collections that really crosses many age demographics!

From super short and flirty hot pants with jackets to ladylike coats with matching skirts and slacks! Color, color, color! The stars were also out in full force, Michael Douglas and wife Catherine Zeta Jones, Rachel Zoe, Camellia Belle and many more. MK is truly Americana.

Thursday, Sept. 13

It’s Thursday and a way too early morning for me today. I arrived at CBS studios at 6:45 this morning for a 7:40 appearance on “Live From the Couch.” I was so excited to share some affordable changes to a space that will make a big seductive difference in your life.

This week of fab fashion has NOT disappointed. It’s been a busy but exciting week for me in New York, and I cannot wait to share more fashion finds with you this season.

Moll Anderson Answers the Health and Beauty Questions We All Want to Ask

Dr. Susan Evans, medical expert for Oprah, Dr. Oz and Dr. Drew

This week on The Moll Anderson Show I dive into the real health and beauty questions we all want to know. I invite Dr. Susan Evans straight out of the coveted 90210 ZIP code to tell us what we need to know to have amazing skin and tone.

She also gives the skinny on whether Brazilian butt lifts really work! The healthy and beauty expert herself gives her opinion on plastic surgery; because who hasn’t wondered if they should get a little nip tuck?

I’ll also reveal my latest magazine hot picks to get you looking beautiful from getting rid of red eyes to eliminating puffy dark circles.

Self magazine gives five simple steps to cellulite free skin; the easiest one is simply keeping your body hydrated.

The best way to get your intake is to eat watermelon; one cup equals 3/5-cup water. You should be taking in about 8½ cups of water per day.

Few things are worse than waking up with dark circles and puffy eyes from lack of sleep, stress, or just overexerting yourself. We can all admit to it! Women’s Health magazine provides a couple tricks to beat these annoying side effects to a busy schedule.

Purchase an anti-puff eye cream or roller and keep it in the freezer. The added cold factor will bring down the swelling almost immediately. For dark circles, invest in an eye care product containing caffeine. The caffeine will constrict the blood vessels, making the circles less obvious. Dab on just a bit of concealer to finish the process!

Allure magazine dishes on a variety of ways to kick the stress right out of your life. My personal favorite is to stop sweating the small stuff. It is easy to get caught up in the “he said, she said” trivial components of everyday life, but just let it go! Releasing these harsh feelings will make you feel all the better, because the only person you’re hurting by holding that grudge is yourself.

Moll Anderson Hosts Best-Selling Author, Supermodel, Chef Cristina Ferrare

Cosmopolitan featuring Cristina Ferrare on Sept. 1978 cover

Wow, this week on The Moll Anderson Show I am honored to have not only an amazing friend but also a true superstar—Cristina Ferrare—as my guest! Cristina has done it all—a beautiful supermodel, host of her own cooking show on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), best-selling author—and did I mention she’s an amazing chef?

You will be amazed at what you learn on my show when two girlfriends start chatting. And don’t forget about her latest book Big Bowl of Love, her fifth cookbook showcasing her expertise in the areas of women’s health, well-being, culinary arts and stylistic design, as well as her great zest for life and her humor. Cristina is currently hard at work on a new project, and, as always, her focus is on helping women.

Later in the show, gossip girl Tara Hitchcock stops by to dish on the latest wedding bell news. Who can it be? Our magazine hot picks will get you ready to take on the fall season. Lucky magazine gives us the scoop on 50 must-have books for the fashion-obsessed.

Cosmopolitan provides a sexy twist on how to use the newest fall fashion trends to seduce your man. Wear the oversized shirt trend (especially the athletic shirts—rugby, etc.) with pushed-up sleeves and a belted waist (might I suggest sans pants) to yield the best returns for getting your man turned on.

I give you the dos and don’ts of fall fashion as previewed in Glamour; these tips will keep you in the know without entering into the dangerous don’t zone. Dress up your cozy knits with glam bottoms such as a sequined skirt in the same color palette.

One of my favorite designers, Donna Karan, reminds us to keep wearing our bright colors just pair them with black to bring the outfit into the colder months. Remember to balance your black and brights by incorporating accessories, coats and shoes.

With these simple tips in mind, strut into the autumn months with confidence and a seductive mindset to bring these trends to life!

Write in every week at askmoll@mollanderson.com to ask Moll for great advice!

Moll Anderson Steams Up the Airwaves with a REAL Housewife

50 Shades of Grey book coverComing up on Saturday’s The Moll Anderson Show is a brand new monthly segment featuring REAL everyday housewives. Although I think the Real Housewives as seen on Bravo, are great moms and caregivers and definitely entertaining, I must ask how “real” can a housewife be when the cameras are rolling?

So I am turning the tables and talking to a “real” down-to-earth housewife—just like the women across the nation who are keeping their families in check, creating a loving home, and doing it all with a smile. I’ll be reaching out to women across America to gain fresh perspectives and share my advice for any questions they may have.

My very first REAL housewife is Loretta Cate from Maryville, TN. Mrs. Cate is a retired professional but still works part-time as a business coach for executives. Loretta and I consider all things romance including the ever-present Fifty Shades of Grey book. She not only gets down and dirty cleaning the house, but she picks up a few dirty tips from Christian Grey! This real housewife reveals what this erotica novel meant to her and why she thinks it’s affected so many women.

Later in the show I have some fun with my go-to gossip girl, Tara Hitchcock! Don’t miss my latest hot picks; they’ve got fabulous advice on all the things to do for your man. Cosmopolitan shares eight compliments your hubby or boyfriend wants to hear, even the classics like, “No one makes me laugh like you do.”

Glamour magazine gives new sexy date ideas, turning up the heat for a scandalous weekend! And Redbook suggests hot new things to try with your guy; even simple gestures like sending a text every time you think of one another will boost your relationship. We even delve into the topic of when is the best time to engage in sex, and it’s not just after you finish the steamiest chapter of Fifty Shades!

To rev up the romance in your relationship, get subscriptions to all my hot picks now.
